In this article
  1. Learn the team’s jobs before chasing rarity
  2. Practice the swap rhythm
  3. Upgrade equipment that supports the plan
  4. Use the built-in guides

01 / Learn the team’s jobs before chasing rarity

Start by identifying what each Agent contributes: damage, field control, support, or the conditions that enable another Agent. A readable team is more useful than three characters who all want the same moment on field.

Example: Before starting a fight, say which Agent creates the opening, which Agent benefits from it, and which Agent closes the sequence.

  • Say what each Agent contributes before you lock a team.

02 / Practice the swap rhythm

Zenless Zone Zero rewards attention to enemy pressure, assists, and the timing of your next character. Use early encounters to practice switching deliberately.

Example: If you keep swapping without a reason, practice one deliberate assist or handoff until the timing feels readable.

  • Practice one swap pattern until you can explain why you are switching.

03 / Upgrade equipment that supports the plan

Read each Agent’s details and the W-Engine description before spending materials. Keep the upgrade path small until you know which roles you want to carry into harder content.

Example: When a W-Engine description rewards a behavior your rotation never performs, treat that as a mismatch even if the item is rare.

  • Use the built-in Agent Guides as a current account-specific reference.

04 / Use the built-in guides

The official Version 3.3 notes describe Agent Guides and tutorial functions that explain upgrade priorities, team recommendations, and practical techniques.

Example: Open the Agent Guide when you cannot explain an upgrade priority; use the tutorial to test the idea in combat.

  • Open the Agent Guide when you cannot explain an upgrade priority; use the tutorial to test the idea in combat.
Takeaway
A readable team gives you a better learning loop than three powerful-looking Agents with no shared plan.
